When I heard this on the news, I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or get mad. I was a Girl Scout leader for 3 years. I have taken a break from it this year, because my daughter wanted to do cheerleading. I only became a Girl Scout leader because of my daughter.
One thing that strongly stands out in my mind, from when I did the leader training, is that we were not to discuss sensitive issues with the girls in the troop. If they were to bring them up, we were to refer them to their parents. It was not our place to take a stance on issues like homosexuality, abortion, religion, or other sensitive subjects. These were up to the parents. We were to encourage our girls to respect each other, respect their differences, and respect their beliefs.
Morris said he made his discoveries after talking to some knowledgeable constituents and conducting “a small amount of Web-based research.” He said the discussion and research led to his conclusions that the Girl Scouts encourage sexual activity, are a front for Planned Parenthood, and that scouts are encouraged to look up to role models who endorse feminist, lesbian and Communist agendas. – LATimes
In y experience, Girl Scouts is for promoting strong girls. They strive to teach them to be leaders. They teach independent thinking. I would like to see the research Morris has supporting his views of the Girl Scouts. I think that he went out on the internet to look for something negative about the Girl Scouts, and used that to discredit them. I also believe that if you were to go online and look for something negative about anything, you will find it. It doesn’t mean that it is true.
Morris needs to do more research, in my opinion.

I really can’t comment on this because my daughter is not in Girl Scouts. But I’ve always heard nothing but good about the organization.
Are you kidding? First the attack was on the Boy Scouts and sexual abuse and now this. ugh
Huh? Really?? That doesn’t make sense…I thought they taught girls leadership and teamwork and important life skills…what information does he have that they are teaching girls political ideas? (I’m not a fan of Planned Parenthood, but I find it hard to believe PP and GS are friendly in any way…I’d be curious to know if this was true)
He has said that he got the info through online research and people he has talked to.

I had my oldest daughter enrolled in Girl Scouts a long time ago, and pulled her out because she was bored out of her mind. All that they were doing was baking cookies, making granola, and chatting; all of which she could do at home with me if she wanted to. There was no teaching, no life lessons, nothing. With my personal experience, I can’t say I’ve known Girl Scouts to be a group that would benefit the girls, but I can’t say I’ve known them to be thrusting the girls into political issues, either. This is so strange and I hope it isn’t true.
I was a Girl Scout for many years and, while I hated how boring it was and how little we actually did, there was never anything inappropriate. There was rarely anything that went beyond cooking or camping or selling cookies – much less controversial.
I was a Girl Scout from my early childhood to my teens. That’s ridiculous! I’ve not had anything to do with the scouts aside from buying cookies in many years, but I can’t believe they’ve changed that much!
My daughter was in GS for years and never once did I see anything even close to concerning being discussed by the leaders or the girls themselves.
I have no experience with Girl Scouts, but I think he may need to do a little more research.
I really wish people wouldn’t give guys like this the exposure they get. Unless he has some actual FACTS to back up his statements, he should be ignored IMHO.

Wow! I don’t know what to think.
I was a girl scout and have nothing but fond memories. But, I was talking to a couple of moms the other day who had girls that were girl scouts a couple of years ago, and they both said the Girl Scouts were nothing more than selling cookies. That’s just about all it was about, now. As for this topic… this is the first I’ve heard of it.
I just recently started noticing more and more companies supporting anti God causes. If I know they support these types of causes, I do not associate with them. God tells us to love everyone but we don’t need to love or participate with the sin 🙂
